In the past decade it seems that it is becoming a regular occurrence to switch on the television or scroll the news on your phone and find some form of terror, death, destruction, or catastrophic event has occurred somewhere in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and more recently Europe. Which then raises the question, are we just noticing it more because we have the ability to access billions of pages of information at our fingertips? Unfortunately, the answer is no, it is suggested that since 2001 terrorism has increased nine-fold and subsequently increasing the risks to businesses, infrastructure, and society as a collective. As the complexity and severity of these geopolitical issues increase so does the need for security and risk management professionals to advise, plan, and execute risk management strategies to ensure that local and international business can operate in a safe, and secure environment.
