I have had a thoroughly enjoyable (if somewhat intense) first week on the Security Risk Management Consultant Course at the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College outside York.
Firstly, the venue is stunning! An old stately home, set in 400 acres of grounds located in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside 15 minutes from York with fantastic facilities and excellent training facilities. This eclipsed however by the amazing standard of food - post course diet is pending!
We have spent the past two days undertaking a crisis management workshop under the guidance of Professor Edward Borodzicz (Professor of Risk and Crisis Management, University of West Scotland) who worked on deconstructing the need for detailed plans and procedures and developing our understanding of the difference between emergency response and crisis response.
This developed into a series of exercises initially undertaken by ourselves and then developed by ourselves which highlight the importance of horizontal communication in crisis management.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the course to date and looking forward to the next eight days. I would recommend Frontier Risks Security Risk Management Consultant course to anyone engaged, or interested in the management of risk whether security professional or not.
The skills and knowledge developed here are central to my role as a Health and Safety Professional in a world with rapidly changing hazards.
