"I really enjoyed my time at the PHTLS  First Responder course. The lecturers were very entertaining and delivered the course information in a very memorable way. I now feel much more confident for when the time comes that I will need to put this knowledge into practice."

Junior Doctor Natasha Haran, Plymouth University Hospital

Course Overview

The Trauma First Response course is a one day continuing education course that teaches the principles of Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) to non-EMS practitioners. The course serves up the core PHTLS content to those who haven’t had EMT or advanced Pre-Hospital training. The lectures and practical stations are designed for the type of care first responders can render while awaiting patient transport or when assisting paramedics and EMT’s at a trauma scene. The course is designed to enable the student to care for trauma patients while serving as part of a transport team or awaiting a transport provider.
